2014 Recruit Profile: Kristen Stanek

This is part 3 of a 5 part series introducing our new players for 2014. This series appears every Monday.

"Kristen comes from a very good high school program (Orchard Park) and has had a very successful career to date.  She is a versatile and dynamic offensive player who can hit to different zones to score points.  She also has shown a lot of competitiveness and is ready and willing to do the work to be very successful in college." ~ Coach Braun

 Why did you choose Fredonia?

When I came to visit my first time I loved all the people. The girls on the team were very nice: they were all happy and they all made me feel welcome. The team seemed to get along really well. I also really liked the size of the campus.

How are you feeling about leaving for college?

I'm excited to start fresh and move on from high school. I'm really nervous to leave my friends but I'm excited to be with my new team in college.

One of your best friends and high school teammates, Noelle Poloncarz, will be setting as a freshman at Brockport next year. Is it going to be weird playing against her?

Kristen (Right), with
friend Noelle
It's going to be sad because we've been playing together since we were 12, but I'm excited that I'll get to see her every season. It's going to be
hard not going to the same school but it'll be fun.

What would Coach Lardo (Head Coach at Orchard Park) say about you as a player and as a person?

As a player he always told me how he could count on me to get a big kill. As a person he thinks I’m funny… I could always make him laugh.

Give us your favorite character from any movie, book, or TV show.

Eyore from Winnie the Pooh. He's cute... I have a beadspread of him :)
