2014 Recruit Profile: Courtney Poirier

This is part 2 of a 5 part series introducing our new players for 2014. This series appears every Monday.

Courtney was most recently a libero
at West Seneca West High School.

"Courtney has a deep love for the sport of volleyball.  She will always be among the hardest workers in the gym.  She runs down everything on defense and is comfortable playing the ball and giving a good platform on different planes.  Courtney has the drive and the skill set to be a great libero at the next level." ~ Coach Braun

 Why did you choose Fredonia?

I chose Fredonia because when we came for our overnight visit we stayed with Liza (Beardsley) and Sara (Madison). They, and the other girls on the team who visited us, were so nice and welcoming. It felt right at home. Our Aunt and Uncle also live only five minutes away so it’ll be easy to visit them.

What’s the biggest difference between you and you twin sister Rachel?

Personality-wise, we’re very similar. Other than that, I have my ears pierced and I’m a much more picky eater. I’m also a lot more clumsy… I break things all the time.

How are you feeling about leaving for college?

I’m really nervous to be honest. I don’t like change and going to college is going to be a big change. At the same time though, I’m excited to start something new.

What will you bring to the volleyball program?

I’m a defensive player so I primarily see myself helping with the team’s defense. I’ll also bring a lot of speed and quickness. I have a good personality and I like to think that I’m funny. I’m really bad at interviews though if you couldn’t tell J

Give us your favorite character from any TV show, book, or movie.

Sheldon from Big Bang Theory. I like the smart, quirky side of him.
