This is part 1 of a 5 part series introducing our new players for 2014. This series will appear every Monday.
Why did you choose Fredonia?
Rachel was most recently a setter at West Seneca West |
"Rachel is going to bring a lot of passion to our program. She’s been a good leader on her club and high school teams and she works very hard. She has the compassion and knowledge to work with her hitters to run an effective offense. Rachel also has put a priority on other parts of her game and it shows." ~ Coach Braun
Why did you choose Fredonia?
I chose Fredonia because of the campus and the people. Since
I’m undecided in my major it was a good place to go where I could explore a bunch of different options. All the people I met, especially the girls on the
volleyball team, made the decision even easier.
You'll be coming to Fredonia with your twin sister Courtney, who's also playing volleyball. Being (almost) identical, how long does it
normally take people to tell you and Courtney apart?
Now, some of the girls on the team are already nervous they won't be able to tell you two apart... are you saying it's going to take them the entire season?
(Laughs), probably! If it helps, Courtney has earrings and is a little bit taller than me.
And now you're going to college together. How are you feeling about it? Do you think you and
Courtney will still spend a lot of time together?
Courtney will still spend a lot of time together?
I do feel nervous but I’m excited at the same time and I can't wait to see what college offers. I’ve already met some people there so I don't feel like I'm going alone. Obviously my sister is going with me and we've done everything together in the past. I don't notice it as much as other people do that we're together all the time. We just both happen to want to do the same things!
What will you bring
to the volleyball program?
I’ll bring fun and happy energy to the team. I tend to come off as quiet, but I’m
still excited on the inside.
Give us your favorite character from any book, TV show, or movie.
Jack Bauer from the TV show 24. I like him because he saves people and does it the
way he wants to. He gets the job done even if he has to bend the rules.
