Our 2014 Banquet!

2014 Fredonia Volleyball

Last Tuesday we celebrated our 2014 season (in 2015) at the White Inn. It's so nice to get many family members traveling back down to Fredonia to spend a couple hours reflecting on last semester's accomplishments. Some highlights from this year's banquet:

Lauren Hokaj (junior - libero) was named team MVP!! She was stellar again this year and we don't know where we'd be without her (and I wouldn't have anyone to laugh with about Family Guy... and now Bob's Burgers).

Saverina Chicka (sophomore - opposite) was the recipient of two awards this year: Most Improved Player and Teammate of the Year!! It's the first time I can remember one player receiving two of the team awards and I can't say how well-deserved they are. Sav has shown so much improvement in all areas of her life: as a person, as a student, as a volleyball player, etc. It's amazing to me that in only one year she's completely transformed before my eyes.

Jessica DiChristopher (junior - middle) was also honored for her selection this year as an Honorable Mention All-American. As coach stated at the banquet, this probably puts Jess somewhere in the top 150 players in the country. Considering there are probably over 6,000 Division III players, that's pretty impressive.

With no graduating seniors this year we had some extra time to spare, so Courtney and Rachel's father, Bill Poirier, was kind enough to edit together our banquet video. We all expected it would be stellar, but we didn't know it would be Oscar-worthy. Perhaps in the near future we'll be putting up a clip to show Bill's fine craftsmanship, but if you're interested in seeing it I'm sure Bill would be happy to send you a copy:
