This past week we played a rare Wednesday match against Nazareth in Rochester. Nazareth is a perennially strong team in our region with a strong incoming freshman class, so we knew we'd be in for a competitive match.
Quickly we saw how difficult an evening it would be after dropping the first two sets, 18-25 and 20-25. In our huddle between sets players and coaches talked about intensity, or our lack of it up to that point. We decided that win or lose in the third set, we'd do it intensely. After two sets of quiet statistical columns, the third set saw us hit .200, pass a 2.2, and total 31 digs. The intensity made a big difference, but not big enough as we dropped the set 32-30.
We'll take our focus on intensity into the second third of our season. With conference play coming up, we're likely to need every bit of it!
