I am very confident that the seven seniors who graduated this past Saturday will all make an impression on this world as they have made a lasting impression on this campus, on myself and on the Blue Devil Volleyball program.
The program's success over the last four years speaks for itself. We won the SUNYAC for the first time, advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen, earned the first three All-American nominations for the program, enjoyed our first two-time All-American, hosted the conference championship and had 800 people in the stands for an incredibly memorable event, won the SUNYAC West four times with a conference record of 32-2 and were regionally ranked each of the four years. During this period, the team had the highest GPA in the department more semesters than not, have earned All-Academic and Commisioner's List honors. They have also laid a foundation for our partnership with the Special Olympics.
The most important contribution of these seven individuals is their high expectations of themselves, their loyalty to each other and the program and the pride and class that they carry themselves with. They continued to strengthen the character of the program and have set a perfect example for those who follow them.
I will often think of Jess's smile and Jenny's blocks. Chelsea's toughness and Emily's competitiveness will always be inspirational. Mick's maturation and improvement and Sarah's consistency are truly remarkable. Brittany's leadership will always be looked up to. This group represents family and represents the program exactly how they should.
I appreciate their sacrifices, their hard work, patience and humor. I am so proud and I wish you the best in all of your future adventures.
Love, Coach
