We lost a tough five set match against New Paltz in the SUNYAC semifinals to end our 2011 season. The match was incredibly exciting and both sides fought hard. The set scores were 25-19, 17-25, 25-23, 23-25, 12-15. Brit delivered 58 assists and had 19 digs. Chelsea had an amazing 11 total blocks (4 solo and 7 assisted) and hit .364 with 9 kills. Jenny hit for 14 kills, Linds for 17, Hannah 15 and Emily had 10. We hit .216 as a team which was a bit above our season average. Jess finished with 5 digs, Mick had 10 digs and an ace while Zureck had a match-high 35 digs and 3 aces. Zureck was named to the SUNYAC Championship All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
We finish the season with a 26-11 record, successfully defended our SUNYAC West title and earned a regional ranking for the fifth straight year.
It's never a good feeling when the season ends with a loss especially with seven seniors playing in their last collegiate match. We left it all out on the floor and if we had to down... that's the way we wanted it. I am proud of the team for everything they have put into the season.
