Ithaca Tournament

The team played SUNYAC East foe Potsdam State on Friday night.  The first set went into extra scoring and we needed 29 points to finish the deal but got it done.  Chelsea had 4 of her 8 kills in the first set.  The next two sets we cut down on our hitting errors and won easily 25-12 and 25-15.  Zesus finished with 15 digs and 3 aces.  Lis contributed 29 assists to the offense.  Linds had a team high 9 kills while Emily .(500)and Chelsea (.727) both enjoyed a solid offensive outing.  Z and Mick both passed for an average over 2.40.

Saturday started with a match against Kean College.  The Blue Devils won 25-14, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22.  Zesus and Mick again passed well with over a 2.60 average in serve receive.  Sarah also had an impressive 25 digs (6.25/set).  Jenny had 11 kills in 26 attempts along with 3 total blocks.  Brittany dished out 44 assists, 2 aces, and 14 digs.  Miss Senn had 9 kills and Emily had 8... they both hit an even .300.  Jess served 3 aces and had 5 digs. 

Ithaca was the opponent in the championship match and it proved to be an exciting match-up to end the weekend.  Fredonia lost in 5 sets 25-21, 17-25, 25-14, 23-25, 11-15.  We let Ithaca back into it after going up 2-1 in the match and didn't finish when we had the chance.  Highlights included a solo block by Brit in the first set to make it 14-15 and give us some momentum.  Jenny had 8 kills in the first set alone!  As a team, we had 7 hitting errors in the fifth and final set which proved to be too much to overcome.

Brittany and Jenny made the all-Tournament team.
