Why our volleyball team runs the mile during preseason

There's no particular correlation between running performance and volleyball performance. That much has been clear for a very long time.

So why do we require our athletes to run a mile in 7:25 during preseason? Three reasons: it's easy to measure, it's difficult, but mostly, if you pass, it proves that you care.

College students are often searching for their calling in life. I'd rather they find a caring.
