Lauren at her final volleyball banquet |
Senior captain Lauren O'Hara has known she's wanted to be a physical therapist for a long time. It was just a matter of choosing the best fit school. After applying and being accepted by several schools throughout the Northeast, just last week she finally chose Sage College in Albany! We asked her a few questions about her decision:
Why Sage?
I chose Sage on the advice from an alumni of the physical therapy program who had very good things to say about the school and faculty. I also liked that they have a smaller program so that it allows for a lot of one on one interaction with professors and a more hands on learning experience. I'm excited too that I have family right in the area who I'll get to see more often.
The O'Hara's |
I tore my ACL and meniscus in eighth grade and retore my meniscus my senior year. My experience being a physical therapy patient got me interested and increased after I starting observing physical therapists at work. I like the one on one connections you get to make and seeing the patient make gradual progress is very rewarding.
Are you nervous for graduation?
This is a tough one. I'm nervous but also excited for the next phase of my life. I'm sad to leave my friends and the volleyball program, but my experiences here have shaped who I am and will help bring me success in graduate school. It has helped build my confidence and leadership skills which will be crucial later in life.
Favorite Fredonia Volleyball memory?
The Spider Web! |
My favorite memory is the pre-season ropes course. It was a great way to get to know team members and learn to trust each other off the court as well as on. I especially liked the spider web!
We wish Lauren the best in the world! She's been a great influence on our program and we know she'll be able to help a lot of people with the path she's choosing. Lots of love!
