Kelly Edinger was named Tournament MVP |
We won our first match against Wells handily with scores of 25-12, 25-17, and 25-10. Hannah had eight kills, while Paulina had seven kills and four aces. Kelly finished with 29 assists and 11 digs.
Our second match would be against a SUNYAC rival, Potsdam. Any time we play another SUNYAC team, the intensity of the game rises significantly. The team was up to the challenge as we walked away victorious with set scores of 25-22, 25-15, and 25-20. Lindsey had 11 kills and Hannah had 10. Kelly finished the match with 32 assists and eight digs. We were very happy as a team of how we handled the pressure of this match.
Saturday morning we faced St. Lawrence College and again won in three sets, 25-23, 25-20, and 25-15. Kelly again did a great job of spreading out our offense and finished with 27 assists. Lauren Hokaj had a nice defensive game with 17 digs.
Our team after a 4-0 weekend. |
It's always a thrill to be able to go into another team's gym and win, especially in a tournament format. We did just that in our last match against Ithaca, winning convincingly in three sets, 25-16, 25-14, and 25-17. Both the setting and blocking were very strong in the last match as Kelly finished with 30 assists, and our blockers totaled 11 blocks.
We're very proud of these girls for their performance this weekend. Hannah Manning was selected to the All-Tournament Team and Kelly Edinger was selected Tournament MVP. Both were well deserved!
Now that we're back on track, we can continue to improve our game as we prepare for our second SUNYAC pool play here in Fredonia. Our first match is at 6pm against Buff State on Friday, and matches at 11am and 1 pm on Saturday against Brockport and Oswego. Hope to see you there!
