For the first time in the history of the program we have had two players named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-American Team in the same season. Sarah Zureck was named for the second time in her career. She was also named to the team in 2009. Jenny Newhouse was named for the first time in her career.
Both Zureck (Zesus) and Newhouse (Nenny) had phenomenal seasons to round out their collegiate playing careers. Both played in all 135 sets this season. Zesus led the team in digs, aces and serve receive percentage and set school records in career aces and career digs while being named First Team All-SUNYAC. Nenny led the team in hitting percentage (.291) and in blocks (104 total) and was named Second Team All-SUNYAC.
Individual accolades are not what we strive for but it is always nice to be recognized for our accomplishments... especially with the highest of honors. In Sarah and Jenny's case it is very well-deserved.
