This is part eight of a twelve-part series of reflections our players write before reporting for preseason. Juniors are asked the question: "How will you be the leader that Fredonia Volleyball needs now that you are an upperclassman?"
This does not necessarily mean she will be more vocal or ‘outgoing’. Rachel has always chosen to lead by example and this year will be no different. Rachel will certainly try to coach her teammates, but if some are not as coachable as others, she will take a lead-by-example approach. She wants her teammates to watch her play and think, “I want to be like that."
It feels like not too long ago that Rachel was a freshman, looking up to the upperclassman and trying to be just like them. Now that she is an upperclassman, she will try to help and encourage her teammates through the toughest points of the season.
Whether it be during preseason when her teammates are struggling to get through the Potsdam challenge, or during a crucial point in a match when the team needs to make a big play, Rachel will always be there for her teammates whenever they need her. She will try to be someone that her team can rely on.
Rachel is prepared for what this season has in store. She will be ready to lead her team through any challenge or struggle that they may face. She will lead her team by always working hard, putting in extra work, always hustling around the court and being positive.
When Rachel is in the gym, she’s in the gym.
